Is there room for an external mouse?
Yes, but the amount of space depends of the width of your notebook computer. The Laptop Desk 2.0 is 20 1/2" long. If your notebook is 12 1/2" long, that leaves 4" on either side of your notebook to operate a mouse. We strongly recommend the use of a mini mouse in this application to maximize the space available for mouse operation.

If you find that the 4" remaining is not sufficient to operate your mouse or if you find that the no-slip rubber that covers that area causes too much drag on your mouse, then we suggest the MouzPad. It was launched on April 18, 2003 exclusively for use as a mousing surface extension for the Laptop Desk 2.0.

How does the Laptop Desk prevent the dreaded Hot Lap?
"The 'Hot Lap' effect is generally caused by placing a laptop computer directly onto your lap. The heat source from the laptop, usually the hard drive or the battery pack or both, will continue to build in temperature until a genuine feeling of discomfort is reached. The Laptop Desk acts as a physical separator between you and the heat source. Because it's over 20" long, it lets you move your legs away from the heat source placing them into a more ergonomically comfortable position. This action not only avoids the heat source but can reduces if not eliminate altogether the dreaded Hot Lap.

Is this product available in retail outlets?
The Laptop Desk 2.0 is sold in CompUSA and Micro Warehouse stores.

What are the shipping methods?
Lapworks eStore offers a variety of different delivery schedules: standard ground, second day air or next day air delivery. When reviewing the items in your shopping cart, enter your ZIP code and click the "Get Shipping Costs" button to determine the cost to ship your order for the desired delivery schedule. Our warehouse will select the carrier from FedEx, UPS and USPS, based on the size, weight and value of the package. See Delivery Information under Placing a New Order for rush delivery requirements.

Do we deliver to the UK and other European countries?
We are proud to announce that we have partnered with a UK company, lapworks.co.uk, who will warehouse, sell and fulfill orders from the UK to all European countries.

Do we deliver to Canada?
We use FedEx International Priority to deliver to Canada but the shipping costs and duties can double the cost of the product. We recommend that our Canadian customers order from www.Tigerdirect.ca - Tiger enters the orders on the first day and by the second day delivers the previous day's Canadian orders in bulk to Canada. The individual orders are then shipped within Canada bypassing the high shipping costs and duties usually associated with shipments originating in the U.S.

What is the product made of?
The Laptop Desk is made from Polycarbonate plastic and a soft elastomer no-slip rubber. Polycarbonate is the strongest of all plastics without getting into composite materials and is also the same material used to make bulletproof glass. The soft elastomer no-slip rubber is permanently bonded to the Polycarbonate and is odorless, UV stabilized and will not delaminate or separate from the Polycarbonate substrate.

Is the product bullet proof?
No! Neither of the Laptop Desks is bulletproof so please DO NOT try to deflect bullets of any caliber with either of the products. To make the product bulletproof, they would have to be 1" thick and weigh 200 lbs.
