Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., April 22, 2002---LapWorks Inc., producers of accessory products for notebooks, Palm and other mobile computing devices, today announced a new version of its portable lap desk for mobile computer users. Laptop Desk™ Version 2.0 builds on the original Laptop Desk™ as a portable lap desk for mobile computer users, but also serves as a desktop stand for notebooks with multi-position screen heights and adjustable support arm.

The Laptop Desk™ v2.0 is ideally suited for the legal profession since a recent survey appearing in AmLaw Tech, a supplement to The American Lawyer magazine showed that a growing number (48 percent) of attorneys prefer notebook computers to desktop PC's.

In addition, a recent study conducted on the product by California Polytechnic University showed the Laptop Desk™ v2.0 reduces heat build-up in notebooks by 15 to 20 percent, translating to an extended computer life. The design of the Laptop Desk™ v2.0 allows cool air to pass through ventilation channels under the laptop allowing hot air to escape. "This passive cooling system reduces notebook overheating," said Professor William Hauser who headed up the study at the University. Positioning the keyboard at an incline has been shown to diminish shoulder and back strain.
